Privacy Policy

What STRKE collects, why, where it lives, how long we keep it, how AI is used, and how to delete it. In plain English.

Last updated UK GDPR · EU GDPR Stored in the UK & EU

This policy explains what STRKE Golf collects when you use the STRKE app, our website www.strkegolf.com (including the /teeup early-access page and the waitlist), and how we use, share, store and delete it. We've tried to write it in plain English. If anything is unclear, email hello@strkegolf.com.

01Who we are#

STRKE Golf is run by STRKE GOLF LTD, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17214382, registered office 143b Wandsworth Bridge Road, London SW6 2TT, United Kingdom ("STRKE", "we", "us"). We are the controller of your personal data under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Where we offer STRKE to people in the European Economic Area, we also follow the EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR).

  • Contact for anything privacy-related: hello@strkegolf.com
  • Data protection lead: the directors of STRKE GOLF LTD, at hello@strkegolf.com. We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer; the law does not require one for the data we handle.
  • EU representative: STRKE is not currently offered in the European Union, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, so we have not appointed a representative there.

02The short version#

  • We collect what you give us (your account, your golf profile, your photos, videos and shot data) so STRKE can score, coach and fit you.
  • Your app data is stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in London, UK. What you send through our website (waitlist, /teeup and feedback forms) is stored on AWS in Stockholm, Sweden (EU).
  • Photos of your launch-monitor screen and your golf data are sent to AI models (Anthropic's Claude, run inside Amazon Bedrock in the UK and EU) to read the screen and coach you. They are not used to train AI models.
  • Our swing analysis runs on your phone: the video isn't uploaded for it.
  • We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and there are no analytics or tracking tools in the app.
  • Friends see only what the friends features need. A coach sees only the sessions they run with you.
  • You can delete your account in the app at any time (Settings → Delete account) and everything is erased as set out in section 10.

03What we collect#

Account details

  • Name, email address and password. Your password is handled by Amazon Cognito; we never see it in readable form.
  • Your role (golfer or coach), and optional @username and mobile number.

Your golf profile

  • Height, sex, handedness and handicap. These are required at sign-up because STRKE's scores are personalised to them.
  • Birth year or age (optional).
  • Your clubs and bag (brand, model, loft, lie, shaft), club distances, goals, launch monitor, ball, home club and how often you practise.

What you capture in the app

  • Photos of your launch-monitor screen (from the camera or your photo library).
  • Swing analysis: when you analyse your swing, the video is processed on your phone and is not uploaded. We store only the results: your swing measurements and the body-position points (not pictures) at four moments of the swing (address, top, impact and finish). Four still pictures of those moments are kept on your phone only, so your history can show them.
  • Swing videos you upload: only if you choose to attach a video (for example to a shot, or when a coach records your swings in a coaching session). These include audio so the sound of impact is kept.
  • Your shot numbers, sessions, personal bests, STRKE Score, drills, fitting reports, rounds, tournaments and scores.
  • A profile photo if you add one.

Coaching chat

  • The messages you type to the AI coach. These are stored on your device only (see section 5).

Friends and coaching

  • Friend requests and connections, people you block, reports you make about other users, feed posts and reactions, and messages a coach sends you.
  • If you are a coach: your bio, qualifications, venues, hourly rate, lessons and student notes.

Device and technical data

  • A push-notification token, if you turn notifications on.
  • Error reports you send or that the app sends when something breaks: the screen, what went wrong, a technical trace, your device/browser type and your user ID.
  • Basic server logs (for example request IDs and error types) used for security and fixing faults.

On the website

  • Visiting our website: our web server keeps basic access logs (time, page, IP address, browser type, referring site) for 30 days to keep the site secure and to count visits. We don't use cookies or analytics tools, and we don't build profiles.
  • Waitlist: your email and whether you're a golfer or coach. If you choose to tell us, also where you practise and whether you'd like STRKE news and tips (with the time you said yes). We also note which button or link brought you to the form (for example a link in our Instagram bio), so we know which ones work. There are no cookies or trackers involved.
  • /teeup registration: the details you enter, which are listed on that page. We also keep the time you submitted, your browser type and a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address, which is used only to block spam. Signing up on /teeup sends us a request: it doesn't create an account. We set up accounts ourselves from the requests we receive.
  • /feedback: your answers, anything you type, your email and whether we may contact you, plus the same submission time, browser type and hashed IP.

What we don't collect

  • We don't read your contacts or address book.
  • We don't use advertising identifiers.
  • We don't track you across other apps or websites.
  • We don't collect health records.
  • We never receive your Face ID, fingerprint or other biometric data. Biometric sign-in is handled entirely by your phone (Apple on iPhone, Android on Android phones).

04How we use it, and our legal reasons#

05AI in STRKE, in plain words#

What goes to the AI

STRKE uses AI in three ways:

  1. Reading your launch-monitor screen. When you photograph the screen, the image is sent to an AI model that reads the numbers, so you don't have to type them.
  2. Coaching you. Your shots, recent sessions, golf profile (handicap, age, sex, height, handedness and first name) and, in the chat, your messages are sent to an AI model. It writes feedback, session summaries and drills.
  3. Analysing your swing. Body-position analysis runs on your phone (Apple Vision on iPhone, an on-device model on Android); the video doesn't leave your phone for this. None of this uses Claude.

Who runs the AI

The coaching and screen-reading models are Claude, made by Anthropic. They are run for us by Amazon Bedrock, part of AWS, from our servers in London. We use Bedrock's EU routing option, so each request is handled in an AWS data centre in the UK or the EU, and never outside them (we don't use Bedrock's US or global routing).

Not used for training

Under AWS's terms for Amazon Bedrock:

  • your photos, messages and data are not shared with Anthropic;
  • they are not used to train or improve any AI model, whether by AWS, Anthropic or us;
  • Amazon Bedrock does not store what we send for the models we use.

We have also turned off request logging on our side, so we don't keep a copy of what is sent to the AI.

What we keep

  • We keep the results: your readings, AI session summaries and recommended drills. They are stored with your sessions.
  • Your chat conversation is kept on your phone only and is deleted automatically after 14 days, or when you log out.

Safeguards

  • The AI only receives what it needs for the task.
  • Coaching chat goes through an AWS safety filter (Amazon Bedrock Guardrails) that blocks harmful content and off-topic requests (such as betting, financial or legal advice) and removes email addresses from replies.
  • The AI can make mistakes. You can check and correct every reading before it's saved, and a coaching tip is only a suggestion.

06Friends, coaches and sharing#

Friends

  • Other STRKE golfers can find you by your name or @username.
  • They can find you by your mobile number only if you switch that on (Settings).
  • We don't show your email address to other golfers.

Friends' view

Friends you've accepted can see:

  • your name, @username, photo and handicap;
  • your feed posts (for example new personal bests and milestones);
  • fun insights and head-to-head compare reports built from your summary stats.

People who aren't your friends can't see these.

Block and report

  • Blocking someone removes the friendship and stops them contacting you.
  • Reports go to the STRKE team, who review them by hand.

Coaches

  • A coach can link you as a student. You'll be asked to approve the link, and you can remove the coach at any time.
  • A coach sees the sessions they capture with you and their own notes about you, not your own solo practice.
  • You can see the sessions your coach captures in My Golf.

Share links and exports

  • If you share a fitting report, anyone with the link can view it (and add a recommendation) for 30 days, or until you turn the link off.
  • PDFs you export are yours to send. The download link we create expires after 24 hours.

07Who we share your data with#

We never sell your data and never share it for advertising. We use these service providers, who process data only on our instructions and under contract:

ProviderWhat they do for usWhere
Amazon Web Services (AWS): Amazon Cognito, DynamoDB, S3, Lambda, API Gateway, CloudWatch, SNSApp sign-in, database, file storage, servers, logs, push deliveryLondon, UK (eu-west-2)
AWS: Amazon S3, DynamoDB, Lambda, API Gateway, CloudFrontWebsite hosting, and the website's waitlist, /teeup and feedback formsStockholm, Sweden (eu-north-1); web pages delivered via CloudFront's network of edge locations in Europe and North America
AWS: Amazon Simple Email Service (SES)Sending the "tap to confirm" email after you sign up on /teeup (no tracking pixels or click tracking)EU AWS Region
AWS: Amazon Bedrock, running Claude models by AnthropicAI screen reading and coachingUK and EU AWS Regions. Anthropic does not receive your data
AppleDelivering push notifications to iPhones (APNs); distributing the iOS appGlobal
GoogleDistributing the Android app; delivering push notifications to Android phones (Firebase Cloud Messaging) once we switch them onGlobal
Google Workspace (Google Ireland Ltd) for hello@strkegolf.comSupport emails, sending your login detailsGlobal (Google data centres; covered by Google’s data processing terms with standard contractual clauses)

Some other parties receive limited data because of how a feature or web page works:

  • OpenStreetMap course lookup (overpass-api.de, Germany). Only when you tap "Find nearest courses", your phone sends your location to this service to list courses near you. STRKE does not store your location.
  • Unsplash (some images in the app). When the app loads these, your device's IP address and browser type go to Unsplash. We plan to host these ourselves. Our website's fonts are hosted on our own site, so no font provider receives your details.
  • WhatsApp. If you ask us to send your login details that way.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile. Only if we switch on bot protection at sign-up; it would receive a check token and your IP address.

We may also share data if the law requires it, to protect people's safety, or as part of a sale or reorganisation of our business. If that happens, this policy continues to apply to your data.

08Where your data is kept and international transfers#

Your STRKE app data is stored in the United Kingdom (AWS London, eu-west-2), including any swing videos you upload and their analysis. Our website and its forms (waitlist, /teeup and feedback) are hosted in the EU (AWS Stockholm, Sweden, eu-north-1).

AI requests are processed in AWS's UK or EU Regions (see section 5). The UK recognises the EU as providing adequate protection, and the EU recognises the UK, so data can move between the UK and EU freely.

AWS is a US-owned company. Our contract with AWS (the AWS Data Processing Addendum) includes the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum. It also commits AWS to challenge government requests for data. The same safeguards cover the rare cases where a provider in section 7 is outside the UK or EU (for example Apple and Google for push delivery).

We may move our hosting to a different AWS account or Region, or change providers, within the UK or EU. If a move would take your data outside the UK/EU, we'll update this policy first and use a lawful safeguard.

10Deleting your account#

In the app: go to Settings → Delete account. This permanently deletes:

  • your sign-in account;
  • your profile, clubs, sessions, shots, photos, videos, fitting reports and PDFs;
  • your friends, feed posts, reactions and notifications;
  • your coach data, and your rounds and scores;
  • your push token;
  • the data stored on your phone.

What happens to shared data

  • Where you appear in something shared with others (a round you played in, a coach's own session records), your name is removed or replaced with "Deleted golfer".
  • If you reported another user, we may keep that report (without your name) for up to 12 months to keep the community safe.

Timing: deletion from our live systems happens straight away. Remaining copies in backups are gone within 35 days.

Without the app: you can also email hello@strkegolf.com from the address on your account to ask us to delete your account, your waitlist entry, your /teeup registration or your feedback.

11Your rights#

You have the right to:

  • access a copy of your data;
  • correct it (most of it you can edit in the app);
  • delete it;
  • restrict how we use it;
  • get it in a portable format (we'll send you a machine-readable export);
  • object to uses based on legitimate interests;
  • withdraw consent at any time, without affecting what happened before. You can switch off notifications, Face ID, phone discoverability and location in the app or in your phone's settings, and unsubscribe from emails.

To use any of these rights, email hello@strkegolf.com. We'll reply within one month, and it's free. We may need to check it's really you.

Complaints: if you're unhappy with how we handle your data, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, 0303 123 1113. If you live in the EU, you can complain to your local data protection authority.

12Permissions and what stays on your phone#

STRKE only asks for phone permissions when you use the feature that needs them. You can change them any time in your phone's settings (iPhone: Settings → STRKE; Android: Settings → Apps → STRKE → Permissions).

  • Camera: record swings, photograph your launch monitor, scan a STRKE QR code (for example an invite from a coach or friend), take a profile photo.
  • Microphone: records the sound of impact along with your swing video.
  • Photos: pick existing videos or screenshots, and save videos or images you choose to save.
  • Face ID or fingerprint: optional quick sign-in. Your sign-in details are kept only on your phone, in its secure storage (Apple Keychain or Android Keystore), and never leave your device.
  • Notifications: optional. On iPhone they are delivered by Apple; on Android by Google.
  • Location: only when you tap "Find nearest courses"; see section 7.

The app keeps some data on your phone so it's fast and works offline: your recent sessions, caches, chat (14 days) and preferences. All of this is removed when you log out or delete your account. The four still pictures from your swing analyses stay on your phone until you log out or delete the app. Swing videos saved to your phone stay there until you delete them or the app.

13Cookies and local storage on our website#

Our website does not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. Like any web server, ours keeps basic access logs for 30 days (see section 3); nothing is stored in your browser for this.

  • The /teeup page saves one small item in your browser's local storage (the time you registered), so it can show you "thanks" instead of the form again. This is strictly necessary for the page to work, so it doesn't need consent. You can clear it in your browser settings.
  • Our pages use fonts hosted on our own site, so no font provider is involved.
  • Our emails contain no tracking pixels and no tracked links.

14Children#

STRKE is for people aged 16 or over. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger, and we check age at sign-up and when you set your birth year. If you think a child under 16 has an account, email hello@strkegolf.com and we'll delete it.

15How we keep your data safe#

  • All data is encrypted when sent (HTTPS) and when stored (AWS encryption). Our storage blocks all public access.
  • Files are only reachable through short-lived private links: 1 hour for uploads and viewing, 24 hours for PDFs.
  • Every request to our servers needs your sign-in token, and our systems check that you can only reach your own data.
  • The team's access to data is limited to what's needed to run and support STRKE.
  • Rate limits and spam checks protect sign-up and registration.
  • Deleted files are purged from storage versions and backups on the timetable in section 9.

No system is perfect. If a breach puts you at risk, we'll tell you and the ICO as the law requires.

16News and tips#

We only send marketing emails if you've said yes (for example by ticking the box on /teeup). Every email has an unsubscribe link, or you can email hello@strkegolf.com. Service messages, such as your login details or important changes to this policy, aren't marketing and don't need consent.

17Changes to this policy#

We'll update this page when what we do changes, and change the "Last updated" date. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it applies.
